Esther started at Eastern Washington University as a Creative Writing major, but quickly realized that her plan of becoming world-famous poet was unlikely to put food on the table. Switching gears, she changed her major to Technical Communications, and learned how make herself invaluable in a business setting. Her accomplishments as a technical writer include procedure manuals, instructions, grant and bid proposals, newsletters, memorandums and legal briefs.

Even after focusing on business writing, Esther continued to dabble in creative writing, and has several professionally published fiction works. She is not currently a poet, but may commit poetry some time in the future.

Esther has three years' experience as a legal secretary and paralegal for a criminal and civil litigation law firm. In her time working for a small general practice law firm in Eastern Washington with a staff of four attorneys, she transcribed declarations, wrote correspondence, and drafted legal documents for attorney review, such as the following: memorandums, motions, affidavits, wills, petitions, parenting plans, answers, interrogatories, cease-and-desist letters, certificates of mailing or certificates of service. She has experience compiling exhibit binders. She has researched legal briefs for specific points of law under attorney direction. She is also familiar with drafting ads and legal notices for publication in newspapers of record.

Esther has loved food since she was a young child. Once she became an adult, she developed a appreciation of wine, cheese, scotch, and complex flavors. She cooks avidly in her spare time and watches many cooking shows. She loves to share the knowledge, experience, recipes, and trial-and-error expertise she's gained over the years. Her ultimate goal is to enable other people to create delicious snacks, dinners, and party foods that are true to the gourmet foods they are inspired by. She loves to cook simply and with as little fuss as possible. One of her favorite guilty pleasures is a vintage port with a big wedge of Stilton or Shropshire blue cheese. She often ghost-writes for different food and recipe websites and blogs.

Two of those works are in the young adult urban fantasy genre, two are historical fantasies, one is science fiction, and the other two are themed speculative fiction. She speaks at writing conventions, provides critiques and feedback at writing workshops, and reviews independent fiction books and various TV shows on her blog, including Korean and Japanese dramas. She is on contract with a small speculative fiction press, and has been invited to be a writing panelist and submit to anthologies and other calls for submission in a professional capacity.

Esther has successfully researched, written and funded two grant proposals with private funding organizations. She enjoys giving back to the community and making the world a better place, both for the current generation and the generations to come. She believes that individuals can make a difference in their environment, and it's better to try and fail than to never attempt something new in the first place. She has researched many funding opportunities for civic-minded organizations, even if they did not go on to write a grant proposal. Her experience is primarily with finding private funding for non-profit 501c3 designated groups.
