Kris graduated from St. Catherine University, St. Paul, Minnesota (May 2011) with a Bachelor of Arts, Communication Studies – Writing Concentration. She received several honors including the Dean’s List – 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011; the Gertrude Shirley Scholarship for Academic Excellence – 2009 and Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society – 2010.
Kris has more than 18 years in the field of education. She taught English Language Arts to various grade levels from grade school to high school. Created innovative instruction, creative academic exercises for all grade levels, and competent communication with parents, colleagues, and students.
Further, Kris was the Academic Dean for 18 months in a small urban school. In this role, she developed and implemented a high school program to expand K-8 schools. Hired, trained, and coached staff. Reviewed, created, and implemented curriculum over several subjects. Supervised staff through the growth process. These experiences honed her written and verbal communication skills.
Kris contributed feature pieces, interviews, event reports, blog posts for several outlets including: Parkway Church in Oak Creek, WI, 5ive for Women, in Eau Claire, WI, The Wisconsin District News, Eau Claire, WI and Ninetyandnine.com in St. Louis, MO. These clients provided a word count, subject to be interviewed or researched and deadline. Through these varied assignments, Kris learned to draft material specific to the client's vision.
