April continued her undergraduate studies at RISD until she achieved the professional Bachelor of Architecture degree that enabled her to enter the workforce as an architectural apprentice at a prestigious New York City firm. April graduated Summa Cum Laude. During this time, she was awarded a grant to study outside of the college and write a thesis on the topic.
April studied fine arts and architecture as a double major, resulting in a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
After graduating from RISD, April studied at Columbia University at the School of Architecture and Historic Preservation. During that time, Pratt Institute offered her a scholarship to complete her graduate studies in architecture and Urban Design. During that time, April authored a book for the Pratt Press entitled "The Community Organizer's Handbook" to be used by various New York City neighborhood planners and elected officials.
April is a licensed architect with 3 professional degrees. She has practiced architecture for over 30 years, mostly as the principal of her own firm. She has also taught young adults basic design and construction skills. April writes content for a variety of websites that are directed toward those looking to hire a contractor, DIYers, and professionals needing technical information. April enjoys practicing architecture as well as writing about the industry.
April is an avid cook and recipe developer specializing in a variety of diets geared toward healthy living. These include gluten-free, vegan, egg and dairy-free, AIP, and Gaps. Her work includes writing for her blog and others who enjoy sharing recipes and pro cooking tips. Some of her clients include home cooks, health and lifestyle experts, chiropractors, and purveyors of specialty cooking appliances and outdoor grills.
