Elisa is a multi-faceted professional with areas of expertise in addition to writing. Elisa has a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and most of the credits necessary for a Master's Degree in Finance. Her undergraduate degree is in Business Administration with a minor in philosophy. An avid reader, Elisa is well-versed in history and literature, which enhances her writing abilities.
Outside of her love for the written word, Elisa enjoys gardening, playing her violin, fiber arts, and engaging in artistic endeavors. She has worked as a professional chef and enjoys gourmet cooking at home. Her love of history and literature provides hours of enjoyment and an over-abundance of books in her personal library!
Elisa earned her Bachelor of Business Administration Cum Laude. She had a double major; accounting and marketing. Elisa also earned a minor in philosophy, rounding out her undergraduate education.
Elisa earned most of the credits necessary to receive a Master's Degree in Finance. A change in career plans prompted a reconsideration of educational goals.
Elisa received her Teacher Certification and Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a 4.0 average. The degree was awarded in May, 1995, and she was hired to work as a first grade teacher in New Milford, Connecticut in September of the same year.
Elisa was a writer and editorial assistant at two Maine newspapers. She wrote at least five articles per week and edited many of the articles submitted by other journalists. Elisa was responsible for proofreading the entire paper at both positions for layout and correct AP style prior to publication. She also performed some layout functions if necessary using InDesign.
The nature of local news coverage is such that a journalist is asked to cover everything from town and schoolboard meetings to news and local events to human interest stories. Elisa is adept at reporting and writing in all of these areas. She is a well-rounded writer who doesn't shy away from any style or subject matter.
Having written for two Maine newspapers, Elisa is an experienced journalist. She is adept at interviewing people and researching article content. Her experience includes everything from covering town meetings and financial items, to local events, news items, and human interest stories.
Elisa produced a quarterly insert for the local newspaper for the Topsham School District in Maine (M.S.A.D. No. 75). This newsletter included articles pertaining to curriculum, school events and finance, to name a few.
Her freelance work has included photography for interviewees and articles about their work and personal experiences.
Elisa is passionate about the written word and the need to produce quality results.
Elisa is experienced in the writing of end-user instruction manuals and specification documents. She has written user manuals for the software development industry with step-by-step instructions and screenshots including specific directions placed on the shots. She has had each of these booklets user-tested and has edited the final product using this information.
Elisa has also written specification documents used by programmers in developing the user interface for various projects. This consists of producing an example of what a screen should look like and describing the functionality of each part of the screen.
