McKayla graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky with a B.A. in Political Science. She has been dedicated to promoting equity within her city and state through her involvement in many different grassroots projects and successful campaigns over the past few years. Currently, she works in political finance, but has previous experience with political research, speech writing, field organizing, campaign operations, and campaign strategy. Additionally, McKayla was elected to represent Kentucky's 93rd State House District on the Fayette County Democratic Party Executive Committee where she also serves as the Chair of the Field & Elections Committee and as the President of the Fayette County Young Democrats.
McKayla successfully completed a Minor at the University of Kentucky in music performance. As a cellist for well over half of her life, McKayla understands the emotional, technical, and educational aspects of music. She has participated in music-related research projects, has performed at the University level, and has experience as a private teacher.
McKayla previously worked for the Kentucky Housing Corporation as the Communications and Marketing Assistant. As such, she created hundreds of social media posts related to advertising of services, employee accolades, events, and more.
Additionally, McKayla has experience creating content for political campaigns. Her use of modern graphics and compelling content caused for an exponential growth of followers across social media websites including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok.
McKayla previously worked as a Communications and Marketing Assistant at the Kentucky Housing Corporation, a quasi-governmental agency dedicated to helping Kentuckians finance their homes. In her position, McKayla was able to successfully market the Health at Home Eviction Relief Fund to thousands of Kentucky renters and landlords alike who were seeking financial relief during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With a background in political finance, McKayla has created successful direct mail pieces that have assisted in fundraising historic amounts of money for Democratic candidates in her state. Additionally, during her work in the non-profit sector, McKayla has effectively used direct mail campaigns to raise awareness of events, charitable benefits, and fundraising efforts.
