Mitch attended one of U.S. News and World Report's top 10 schools in the West- St. Edwards University in the school of Humanities. He studied Theatre and Journalism and excelled in both with a 3.9 GPA at graduation. From writing original scripts in his theatre education to becoming an editor for the University paper, Mitch's writing experience during his time in undergrad is vast and high-quality.
Mitch spent more than 9 years working in the education system in the state of Texas. From his frontline experience, Mitch has learned the intricacies of public vs private education and the associated issues from government oversight to standardized testing to arts in the curriculum and everything in between.
Mitch spent 9 years as an elementary school teacher in the Austin public school system. In this time, he got to know hundreds of students and their families and really tap into the events, news, and issues that mattered to them - from the latest kid trends to information that all families should have access to, Mitch worked to inform his students and their communities in whatever way he could.
Mitch is very well familiar with the non-profit community. From charities to non-profit educational organizations to news/political organizations. With more than 1000 documented volunteer service hours, if it's a non-profit, it's likely Mitch has some expertise in that area.
An active political junkie himself, there's nothing Mitch enjoys more than researching and delving into complex political issues in a data-driven way. Explaining the ins and outs of politics in a clear and understandable way that is backed up by science and statistics is Mitch's area of expertise.
Mitch is a proud gay man and has used his platform as a reporter and journalist to tell the stories of queer people throughout the United States, as well as in his local community through specific LGBTQ+ blogs and infusing that point of view in traditional media.
Mitch has published dozens of articles as the Associate Editor for Life & Arts and the Hilltop Views. In his years there, he reviewed major arts festivals (AFF, SXSW, Fantastic Fest, etc), discovered and reported on cultural arts events, and shared the news/current events in real time weekly.
