Graduating with a bachelor of science degree from Fitchburg State University in 1991, Asselin majored in Communication/Media and minored in Film Production. She spent much of her time writing short scripts, working on student films, and volunteering for new student orientation and college event planning.
As a graduate student at UConn, Asselin worked full time in the Department of Campus Activities, honing her skills as an event planner and student counselor.
