Roy has over ten years of experience as a scuba instructor. He designed coursework that helped streamline the presentation of certain specialized skills. He also authored two articles for "Sources: The Journal of Underwater Instruction."
Roy has experience as an adjunct instructor for political science at both Northern Oklahoma College and Oklahoma State University. His duties included lecturing, designing curriculum, exams, and grading term papers.
Roy authored several novels, and published one in the young-adult fiction genre. The novel features a young man with a supernatural connection to the sea. Sailing, scuba, and freediving are featured prominently in the story.
