Writer for The Houstonian, the campus newspaper
LaDawn put her journalism degree to work by covering city council meetings for Houston Chronicle. Because of her interest in local politics, and her graduate work in public administration, she has a deep understanding of the issues impacting how municipalities govern. She is able to explain complex functions in a way that is easy for readers to grasp.
For more than 10 years, LaDawn worked as a fundraising executive for both large and small nonprofit organizations. In that role, she was responsible for crafting fundraising appeals, web and brochure copy, speeches, press releases and articles. She excels at board member cultivation and development. While she no longer works professionally as a non profit executive, she continues to volunteer in her community.
LaDawn F. worked as a freelance reporter for Houston Chronicle. She reported on city council, school officials, community groups and businesses in the Fort Bend area. During this time, she proved adept at cultivating relationships with local government leaders. During her tenure, she both suggested and received story assignments designed to inform and sometimes entertain readers in the Houston area. Her work appeared in print and on the Houston Chronicle website.
