Alicia has 17 years's experience in the translation industry. Born and raised in Barcelona, she is bilingual Spanish-Catalan. After graduating in Translation and Interpreting at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in June 2001, she moved to Granada, where she started working at SDL Spain in December 2001. She started as a trainee translator and worked on many different projects, mainly from English into Spanish and Catalan, but she also worked with her other language pairs, from French and Portuguese into Spanish and Catalan. At SDL software localization and technical translation where the main fields, and she has continued working on those fields also as a Project Manager for other languages.
In May 2016, she moved to Malaga, where she worked in another agency first as a PM and for the past 5 years as Business Development Manager, in charge of sales, marketing and PR, before creating her own translation firm, Pret-A-translate, where she works as a freelance translator for her language pairs and PM for other languages.
After taking care of marketing-related tasks, Alicia is more and more interested in this field, and she is doing marketing-related translations, such as translations for social media, blogs, and copywriting in Spanish. She is currently studing a Master's degree in Digital Marketing and E-commerce in a business school in Madrid. It is a blended training, so she studies at home.
Alicia is also a Primary School teacher, she took this degree before starting Translation and Interpreting. She has worked as English teacher for primary school children and has also worked as summer school instructor.
